Description

The Sapphire cable has a thick 13mm outer diameter finished in a smooth feeling cloth sheath that is a lovely sapphire blue and black colour. To ensure long term reliability, the cable ends are enclosed within a thick protective heat-shrink cover that extends for about 100mm. The barrels, heat-shrink and cable ties are all proudly labelled with the EGM Audio logo.

There are three 12AWG cores of 4mm2 99.999% OFC pure electrolytic copper plus an extensive internal EMI/RFI protective screening over the cores. The wall power plug is enclosed in a hefty black barrel and the male pins are rhodium plated and look fantastic. There is a wide choice of cable ends available including IEC C19, C15 or IEC C7 plug tops to suit your specific requirement from a projector, amplifier or source device, so we have you covered. Please specify the length of cable that you require. All of the cables are hand made to your specific needs in Australia by a licenced electrician.

How does it Sound?

We love the Sapphire cable, its sound is disciplined and articulate with lots of detail. The tonal balance is very good, with a slightly thinner, yet just as taut bass as the Black Pearl cable. The mids are a touch forward and voices are reproduced with stunning accuracy and feel. The top-end is particularly well focused and you will be able to discern lots of detail that you may not have heard so clearly before.

The pace, rhythm and timing abilities of the Sapphire cable is excellent, and these qualities help to provide tracks with natural musicality, foot-stomping emotional responses that makes you want to get up and dance. This cable is quieter and has blacker backgrounds than standard power cables, so it easily provides a sense of space around the recording, with the soundstage filling the room and a holographic front to back sense of depth and space around the performers.  This adds to hearing all the colour and texture of good recordings and allows you to enjoy your music to a much higher level.

This Sapphire cable and the cables above it in the EGM range are the ones that provide the greatest gains over a standard power cable.

What is Cable Burn-in?

All cables and especially highly revealing audio cables require a little time to settle and start performing at their optimum. There are many opinions as to why this well-known phenomenon happens, but we won't get bore you with it. Although they can often sound good immediately, we recommend that you allow EGM cables at least 48 hrs of constant use before doing any critical listening. This initial period of time will make the largest difference to the sound quality. For the next week or two the cable will continue to improve, but in smaller increments.

A fully burned-in cable will sound smoother and more musical. It will also have better timing, imaging, treble detail, bass power and control as well as being less fatiguing to listen to.
