Description
This is EGM’s brand-new top-performing flagship design and is rather special. The bright green coloured silicon sheath is smooth and unlike most other cables that you have seen previously. Holding the cable in your hands, you will be surprised and aware of the substantial weight of this thick and heavy cable. The outer diameter of the cable is a whopping 17mm! With two thick cores of 10 gauge or 6mm2 each, (each core able to carry 30A current) it feels insanely overspecified and can instantly transmit lots of AC current to your amplifier or device without any hesitation or lag. There are also three earth cores of 13-gauge (2.5mm2) wire. All the cores are high purity OFC copper with a pure silver plating over the copper. Naturally its shielded and braided against EMF and other nasties. It is terminated with EGM’s best 3rd generation Silver plated Copper pins within thickly moulded, vibration resistant barrel ends. Although being a thick cable it is still flexible enough for it to be connected easily into your system.
How does it Sound?
This cable is ultra-refined. Listeners can expect a full and balanced sound, with excellent bass weight and extension.
The Eclipse builds on the previous flagship Emerald cable and takes it even further. It is the highest performing cable that we have ever made and will easily stand besides our competitor’s cables that are more than twice the price. It is the first time that we have used silver plating over OFC copper wire, and the added effort and expense really shows. It has virtually no weak areas of performance. It is an ultra-low noise design that allows the music to express itself freely without interference from external factors.
With the Eclipse audio grade power cable connected, the sound is particularly open and airy with excellent separation between all the instruments and vocals, in a large and open 3D soundstage. This cable exhibits excellent balance between the highs, mids and bass, with everything in the correct proportions. Treble glare and sibilance is very well controlled. This cable has the most bass extension in the EGM range, with fast, deep well-articulated bass notes that carry very satisfying bass weight. There is no bloom or uneven attention given to the bass, but it’s very well balanced, with fullness, texture and definition. The PRaT or timing is spot on, with instruments like a snare or kick drum having realistic attack and slam due to the excellent instantaneous delivery speed.
It’s recommended that the power cable be first tried connected directly to the wall socket to maintain speed, focus and weight in the bass. Alternatively, it may also sound very good connected to a high-quality power conditioner or distribution board. The Eclipse is a versatile design that has also been tested on digital sources that draw less than half an amp and it has the same sound qualities. We believe that the extensive EMI/RFI shielding makes a huge difference to the overall sound quality.
The Eclipse is particularly good value for money and the price difference between it and the Fusion suggests that this is a no brainer upgrade that is well worth a little extra to have the best. If you have a well sorted, high-resolution audio system, then you will easily hear a large sonic difference between this cable and every other cable in our range.
EGM Audio Recommendation: Best performance for detailed ultra high-end audiophile systems - Power Conditioners, Power Amps, Mono Blocks & High Power Applications. Equally suitable for low noise source components like quality Projectors, TV’s, Streamer Transports, DAC’s, CD Players, Turntables etc. Recommended Length is 2 metres minimum.
Extra Information:
The EGM Family Sound
As is often the case with high-end audio manufacturers, all of the EGM audio grade power cables have a “family sound”. What is it and will it suit you?
EGM specialist power cables are designed to sound smooth, articulate, revealing and with just a touch of warmth. You will hear this with all our power cables, from the entry-level through to our flagship. We believe that you should never experience unpleasant surprises when upgrading cables throughout our range. As you spend a little more and move up the range, you can expect to hear even more from your music, with more detail, quieter backgrounds and a fuller, richer sound. Many notice the improvement to the bass, it becomes more powerful, goes deeper and with greater punch and dynamics.
EGM audio grade cables do not sound artificial, overly bright or harmonically out of balance, but have a lovely smooth top to bottom balance and neutrality that we have become well known for.
Why should I use EGM audio grade power cables?
Many people have asked us what the difference between EGM Audio cables and the thin moulded Chinese is made cable included in the box. It’s the sound quality. Technically both do the job, but only a specialised audio cable allows your audio device to sound the way it was meant to. When you stop to compare the quality of the conductors, the wire diameter and extensive use of electromagnetic and radiofrequency shielding, the 3rd generation cable ends, it’s little wonder that EGM audio grade power cables are superior sounding by a large margin. There is a lot of unseen technology incorporated into the finished cable that is not readily apparent. EGM has spent over 7 years of R&D in their new cable range, with extensive listening tests and prototyping so that you can enjoy world-class products at a reasonable price.
EGM is proud that every cable they manufacture uses the same standard of workmanship, the same high grade of materials, including the same protective heat-shrink covers on both ends of the wires and is hand made by a qualified electrician in Australia. Every cable is individually tested for electrical safety. Every cable in the range is shielded against destructive EMI/RFI and is available in custom lengths and with a wide variety of IEC plug tops to suit almost every audio or AV device.
What is Cable Burn-in?
All cables and especially the highly resolving audio grade cables require a little time to settle and start performing at their optimum. There are many opinions as to why this well-known phenomenon happens, but we won't bore you with it. Although they can often sound good immediately, we recommend that you allow EGM cables at least 48 hrs of constant use before doing any critical listening. This initial period will make the largest difference to the sound quality. For the next week or two the cable will continue to improve, but in smaller increments. Often thicker cables with multiple cores take longer than thinner ones.
A fully burned-in cable will sound smoother and more musical. It will also have better timing, imaging, treble detail, bass power and control as well as being less fatiguing to listen to.
Cable Construction

1. Conductors: Five (5) conductors comprising One (1) Active × 6.0 mm², One (1) Neutral × 6.0 mm², and Three (3) Earth × 2.5 mm² extra-fine stranded Class 5 annealed Oxygen-Free Copper (OFC 99.9%) conductors, manufactured with ASTM B298 Class B silver plating (minimum 2.5% conductivity increase equivalent). The silver-plated conductors provide excellent conductivity, enhanced corrosion resistance, and improved high-frequency current transfer associated with the skin effect, while maintaining exceptional flexibility, low resistance, and long-term reliability.
2. Insulation: Each conductor is insulated with Fluorinated Ethylene Propylene (FEP), offering one of the audio industry's lowest dielectric constants and dielectric losses. FEP provides outstanding electrical performance, excellent thermal stability, high insulation resistance, and exceptional resistance to moisture, chemicals, and ageing. Operating temperature range: -10°C to +200°C.
3. Dielectric Filler: A precision Polyethylene (PE) dielectric rope filler is positioned within the cable core to maintain conductor geometry, improve mechanical stability, preserve the cable's circular profile, and minimise conductor movement and vibration. The low-dielectric PE material also helps reduce dielectric interaction between conductors, contributing to consistent electrical performance.
4. Vibration Damping Layer: A high-flexibility RS-150 silicone elastomer damping layer is applied over the insulated conductors to provide an additional level of mechanical isolation before the shielding system. The silicone elastomer helps absorb and dissipate mechanical vibration, reduces conductor movement within the cable during handling and installation, and provides an additional protective layer for the internal cable construction.
5. Shielding: A 100% coverage aluminium/Mylar foil shield provides highly effective suppression of high-frequency electromagnetic interference (EMI) and radio frequency interference (RFI), helping to minimise external electrical noise and maintain consistent system performance.
6. Screening Drain: A Oxygen-Free Copper (OFC 99.9%) copper braided shield with a minimum 85% braid coverage is applied over the foil shield, providing effective low-frequency electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding, a low-impedance earth path, enhanced mechanical durability, and broad-spectrum EMI/RFI protection.
7. Outer Sheath: A premium RS-150 high-flexibility silicone elastomer outer sheath, rated to 180°C, provides exceptional flexibility together with outstanding resistance to UV exposure, ozone, moisture, oils, acids, and a wide range of industrial chemicals. The outer sheath also offers excellent vibration-damping characteristics, helping to protect the internal cable construction from mechanical stress and impact. The sheath is halogen-free, flame retardant, and engineered for long-term performance in demanding industrial and high-end audio applications.
